The Boomtown Rats are one of the UK's most successful chart acts. I thought I'd make a comparison with some other well known artists. The Rats have spent a total of 123 weeks in the UK singles charts.
*In addition to the figures below, The Rats were in the charts for 26 weeks with Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas'. Bob Geldof has had 15 weeks of solo success, and has also appeared on 'We are the World' by USA for Africa(9 weeks), and 'Sun City' by AUAA(8 weeks). In total Bob Geldof has been in the UK singles charts for 181 weeks.
